Abstract. The article outlines the features of Ulmus pumila L. seeds germination with the participation of various growth improvement drugs. The research was carried out in order to obtain sustainable planting material for landscaping the Saratov region settlements. Green plantings of Ulmus pumila L. possesses decorative qualities, potential advantages for combating soil erosion, effective in environmental parameters. The study is relevant due to the absence of Ulmus pumila L. in the nurseries of the Saratov region, and hybrid elms do not take root well in the regional conditions, therefore it is necessary to grow Ulmus pumila L. in local nurseries. The novelty of the study is that the possibility of Ulmus pumila L. seeds germination has been evaluated without lighting (in darkness), as well as with the help of fluorescence 2:1 or 4:1 red / blue LED, including treatment with various drugs. It was found that the Ulmus pumila L. seeds soaked in a 3% sucrose solution had the highest germination rate and germination energy. It was noted that the quality of lighting affected only the germination energy: seeds exposed to 2:1 LED light (red/blue) had the highest germination energy, and seeds exposed to fluorescent light had the lowest germination energy. It was noted that the Ulmus pumila L. seeds germination was the highest in control seeds that were not treated. It was revealed that the Ulmus pumila L. seeds do not need treatment for germination and that excessive water absorption or exposure to plant growth regulators negatively affects seed germination. This conclusion may suggest that with the further growth of Ulmus pumila L. it will not need multiple watering, which is important for cultivating it in the Saratov region’s urbanized environment.
