Abstract In the context of growing global food demand and the need to bring unused agricultural land into use, developing effective methods for restoring soil fertility and creating a stable forage base is becoming increasingly important. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different application rates of an organic amendment based on turkey manure on the agrochemical properties of sod-podzolic soil, as well as the productivity and quality of forage crops during the use of fallow land. Field experiments were carried out in 2020-2022 in the Moscow region. The study included treatments with organic fertilizer applied at rates of 15 and 30 t/ha, along with a control treatment without fertilizers. The results showed that the use of organic amendments increased the content of organic matter in the soil: by 1.3 % at 15 t/ha and by 1.4 % at 30 t/ha, compared to only 0.3 % in the control. A strong positive correlation was found between the fertilizer rate and the accumulation of organic matter (r = 1.0). The use of organic fertilizers increased the total yield of perennial grasses by 26-35 % com-pared to the control. The highest productivity of the annual crop was observed at 15 t/ha (1.25 t/ha of dry matter), which is 0.58 t/ha higher than in the control. The best feed quality indicators, including metabolizable energy and digestible protein, were also recorded at 15 t/ha, while the application of 30 t/ha resulted in the highest yield of feed units. The results show that organic soil amendments help restore the fertility of sod-podzolic soils, increase crop yield, and improve forage quality. Considering all agronomic indicators, the optimal ap-plication rate is 15 t/ha. These findings confirm the effectiveness of organic fertilizers in restoring de-graded soils and improving the sustainability of agroecosystems.
